As part of its commitment to societal development and civic engagement, the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Ibadan Elite paid a courtesy visit to the Oyo State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Wednesday to explore strategic partnership opportunities, particularly in the area of public enlightenment and road safety advocacy.

The engagement, held at the FRSC Sector Command headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, brought together top officials from both organizations to discuss avenues for collaboration geared towards reducing road traffic crashes and enhancing road user education.

In his remarks, the 2025 Director of Partnerships for JCI Ibadan Elite, JCIN Amb. Olalekan Olanrewaju Ola, expressed gratitude for the reception, noting that the initiative had long been part of his strategic goals since assuming office.

"This partnership has been a vision I’ve nurtured since my last visit to this command. As Director of Partnerships, I made it a priority to engage with the FRSC to jointly promote road safety awareness. I’m glad it has come to fruition today," he stated.

JCIN Amb. Ilerioluwa Johnson Babatunde, President of JCI Ibadan Elite, further underscored the purpose of the visit, emphasizing the organization's readiness to partner with the Corps in creating impactful safety campaigns.

"As young leaders and active citizens, we are here not only to promote civic responsibility but also to forge meaningful collaborations with institutions like the FRSC. We also extend an invitation to members of the Corps to join our community, as we believe in developing the potential of every individual," he said.

Responding on behalf of the Corps, the Sector Commander, Corps Commander Rosemary U.K. Alo, welcomed the delegation warmly and expressed her enthusiasm for the proposed partnership.

"The FRSC is open to partnerships that enhance our mission of creating safer roads. Public enlightenment, whether through the media or direct engagement, remains a top priority. We see great potential in working with JCI Ibadan Elite, especially in educating not just drivers but passengers as well," she said.

Highlighting the Corps' strategic goals, Commander Alo revealed that the FRSC aims to reduce road traffic crash fatalities and injuries by at least 10% this year, noting that collaboration with civil society organizations aligns perfectly with that objective.

"Road safety is a shared responsibility. You don’t have to wear a uniform to be a road safety advocate. Everyone has a role to play in preventing crashes, and we believe this partnership will foster a stronger culture of safety."

The Commander also invited JCI members to join some of the FRSC's platforms to further explore collaborative opportunities, particularly in public awareness and education.

The courtesy visit had in attendance other members of JCI Ibadan Elite’s Board of Directors and Executive Council. On the part of the FRSC, key officials present included Deputy Corps Commander (Technical Services) T.T. Olayiwola; Deputy Corps Commander (Motor Vehicle Administration), Malomo; Deputy Corps Commander (Medical), Owoeye; Deputy Corps Commander (Training), Rita Omowa; and Deputy Corps Commander (Administration), Alade, among others.
