Ayegun-Oleyo Road Construction Approved By FG, Residents Relieved

07 June

Reported by Ayooluwa Afolabi

The Federal Government has approved the construction of Ayegun-Oleyo road, causing residents and commuters alike to rejoice. The construction of the long-awaited road was successfully facilitated by Dr Yunus Akintunde, the lawmaker representing Oyo central senatorial district.

According to Oyo Affairs, before his election, Dr Akintunde and his friends had reconstructed a kilometer of the road, demonstrating his commitment to improving the lives of residents and commuters in Ayegun, Oleyo, Odo Ona Elewe, and surrounding areas.

Since his inauguration, he has tirelessly lobbied the federal government to construct the entire stretch of the road.

His tireless efforts paid off when the Federal Executive Council (FEC) awarded the contract to Messrs Xenon Ltd on March 25, 2024, with a letter dated April 4, 2024.

Dr Akintunde expressed his gratitude to President Bola Tinubu, his colleagues, and friends, acknowledging that he couldn’t have achieved this feat alone.

He urged the people to cooperate with the contractors and assured them that the temporary inconvenience would be worth it, promising a “very good date” for completion.

The APC chieftain also hinted at more projects in the pipeline, saying, “We have many long-lasting programmes in our bag and we won’t stop at anything to achieve them.”
