The Oyo State House of Assembly has urged the state police command and other security agencies to take immediate action in securing the release of a medical doctor and a young lady who were recently kidnapped.

The unfortunate incident occurred on Sunday, July 23, 2023, when Dr. D.O Lawal, a medical practitioner at the Baptist Medical Centre in Okeho, Kajola Local Government Area, and Kafilat were abducted by armed gunmen while traveling in a Micra taxi along the Okeho/Isemi road.

The matter was brought before the house on Tuesday as a matter of urgent public importance by Hon. Musibau Azeez, the representative for Kajola State Constituency. He expressed deep concern over the alarming rate of insecurity, particularly the increase in kidnapping cases in the state.

Despite the efforts made by Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration in providing necessary support and logistics to security agencies to combat crime and maintain peace in Oyo State, the occurrence of such wicked acts continues to threaten the peace and tranquility of the region.

The members of the Oyo State Assembly unanimously resolved to call upon the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State and other relevant security agencies to swiftly take action and ensure the safe and prompt release of Dr. D.O Lawal and Kafilat. The urgency of the situation demands immediate attention, and the Assembly seeks the cooperation and dedicated efforts of the security forces in resolving this distressing situation.

As the state grapples with the growing insecurity, the Assembly remains committed to working closely with the government and security agencies to address these challenges and maintain the safety and well-being of the citizens.
