Saki Born, Rauf Salami Appointed New FCE Oyo Provost

The Federal Government has announced the appointment of Dr. Rauf Salami as the new Provost of the Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo. Dr. Salami, a native of Saki in Oyo State, will assume the role following the completion of Prof. Kamoru Olayiwola USMAN’s two-term tenure on July 20, 2023.

Dr. Salami, a distinguished alumnus of the College, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new position. He holds an NCE in Education for Learning Disabilities/Biology from the Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo. He further pursued his education at the University of Jos, obtaining a B.Ed. in Special Education (Learning Disabilities) with Second Class Honours (Upper Division). His quest for knowledge led him to the renowned University of Ibadan, where he earned an M.Ed. and Ph.D. in Special Education (Reading Disabilities).

Having joined the Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo in 2002 as a Lecturer III, Dr. Salami has steadily progressed through the ranks, culminating in his appointment as Chief Lecturer in 2017. He has held various key positions within the institution, including Head of the Department of Education for Learners with Learning Disabilities, Director of the National Resource Centre for the Disabled (NRCD), Teaching Practice Coordinator, and Director of the Directorate of ICT, among others. Dr. Salami’s contributions to the college extend beyond his teaching role, as he has served as Chairman and Member of numerous Standing and Ad hoc Committees.

Dr. Salami’s scholarly accomplishments are noteworthy, with his research findings published in reputable local, national, and international journals. He has authored several books and contributed meaningful chapters in his area of specialization. His dedication to academic advancement is further demonstrated by his participation in conferences, seminars, and workshops on a global scale, where he has presented scholarly papers.

The appointment of Dr. Rauf Salami as the new Provost of FCE Oyo marks a significant milestone in the institution’s leadership. His exceptional qualifications, extensive experience, and commitment to excellence position him as a valuable asset in advancing the mission and vision of the Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo.
