The much anticipated Ibadan Food Comedy Fest Organizers have revealed the festival’s major highlights to be the Ibadan Cook-a-thon where the winner will receive a grand prize of 200,000 Naira.
Ibadan Food and Comedy Fest’s second edition is set to take place on Sunday, 1st of October, 2023, at Ibadan Recreation Club, Adjacent Adamasingba Stadium, this festival promises a delightful blend of food and comedy. The announcement came during a press conference held at Jericho Mall, where the organizers officially unveiled the program, aptly called Ibadan Food Comedy Fest 2.0, and detailed their plans for this year’s event.
The convener of the event, Segun Ogundipe, popularly known as “Lafup,” described the event as a well-deserved treat for everyone to take a break, enjoy good food, and celebrate life.
According to Lafup, the central theme for this year’s festival is “The Taste of Ibadan.” The aim is to offer attendees a multifaceted experience, showcasing Ibadan’s food, fashion, culture, and the vibrant community,” he added.
“The Ibadan Cook-a-thon, the culinary enthusiasts and chefs will compete for the title of ‘Food Comedy Festival Chef of the Year.’ The winner will receive a grand prize of 200,000 Naira. This competition aims to encourage creativity and celebrate local culinary talent,” said Lafup
“This festival will feature a lineup of renowned food vendors, both local and from beyond Ibadan. Chrysalis is one of the lead partners. Other vendors representing the diversity of Ibadan’s culinary scene include Ose Olorun, popularly known as Amala-Skye, Terminology, Onisasun, Tiwa n Tiwa, etc. Out-of-town vendors include Ofada Boy and Chow Box, who was the winner at last year’s festival, and many others.
“Promises to be a fun-filled festival offers a variety of activities to cater to all attendees, no matter their interests and it is not just a marketplace for food vendors; it’s a platform for everyone involved in the food supply chain. Farmers, food suppliers, packagers, and growers are encouraged to participate. The festival aims to foster collaboration, exchange ideas, and create a community of food enthusiasts.
