The respected and foremost Yoruba monarch Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi in his usual characteristic has pledged his total support to the new National title belt holder Ridwan Oyekola popularly known as Scorpion and other boxers from Oyo State that would be competing in forthcoming boxing bouts tagged: Ileya Boxing Fiesta.
The Alaafin of Oyo who hosted the new National champion and his manager Sola Ford at his palace in Oyo over the weekend vowed to be by the ring side on 13th August, a day after this year’s Eid-Kabir (Ileya) during a boxing competition scheduled for inside the main-bowl of Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, (former Liberty Stadium) Ibadan to cheer the boxers to victory.
Oba Adeyemi in his remark expressed his joy over Scorpion’s feat of winning a national title belt back to Oyo State after more than a decade the title had been taken away, while pledging to grace the bout with his High Chiefs (The Oyomesis) to give total support to the Oyo boxers.
Meanwhile, the boxing show that was put together by Henry Lewis Boxing Promotions Austria would see Ridwan Oyekola Scorpion confronting Isaac Dawuona, a Ghanaian who plies his trade in the United State of America in a continental boxing challenge while Akeem Sadiku Dodo will also tackle Lokossou Jacob from the Republic of Benin in another continental bout.
Other big fights slated for the day is bantamweight bout between Adeyemi Opeyemi (Sense) and Habeeb Oladeji while Jamiu Akande and Yusuf Ogunbumi will also lock-horns in lightweight boxing contest, two female boxers, Edith Ogoke and Blessing Godwin will also battle in middle-weight bout and an enterprising Oladosu Rilwan will go to war with Moses Samuel.
